Pirates in Room 3 & 4

This week in Room 3 and 4 we have been looking at pirates. We made pirate hats and parrots. We wrote stories about our pirate adventures.
Next week we are going to be making treasure chests full of gold, estimating how many pieces of gold we can fit in our chests and writing some more adventures! Arrghhhh!

Ngake Hub After Lockdown

We have had 2 fabulous weeks back at school! The children have been doing so well coping with our new systems. Here are just a few of the things that we have been up to.

We created a book about what has changed and what has stayed the same at school in the Ngake Hub.

.

We made some masks and wrote descriptions about them. Can you match our descriptions with our masks?

We made some taniwhas out of dye, pastels and vivids, then wrote descriptions and adventure stories about them.

In Room one we drew pictures of our dreams on calico to create our own Cloth of Dreams. When our artwork is complete the cloths will be dyed and sewn together.

We Made Volcanoes

As part of our science inquiry topic, today we practised being scientists!
In our groups we mixed baking soda, food colouring, dish washing liquid and some vinegar. We watched while our 'lava' overflowed.

Here we are in our groups:

Here are some of the photos we took on the i-pads during the experiment:

Visit to Kilbirnie Library

This afternoon The Ngake Hub got to have our first visit to Kilbirnie Library for the year.
We walked down after lunch, met our lovely librarian, and got to get comfy on the lillypad cushions.
Our lovely library lady made sure we knew what to do to be safe if there was an emergency. Next we got to enjoy 3  funny stories. We had a lovely time, but were a bit tired after our long walk back to school.
