We Made Volcanoes

As part of our science inquiry topic, today we practised being scientists!
In our groups we mixed baking soda, food colouring, dish washing liquid and some vinegar. We watched while our 'lava' overflowed.

Here we are in our groups:

Here are some of the photos we took on the i-pads during the experiment:

Visit to Kilbirnie Library

This afternoon The Ngake Hub got to have our first visit to Kilbirnie Library for the year.
We walked down after lunch, met our lovely librarian, and got to get comfy on the lillypad cushions.
Our lovely library lady made sure we knew what to do to be safe if there was an emergency. Next we got to enjoy 3  funny stories. We had a lovely time, but were a bit tired after our long walk back to school.

Fun Swim Day

To celebrate the end of our swimming lessons, we had a fun swim in the school pool today. We started off with some races with the balloons.

Race 1: Get the balloon to the other side of the pool using only our heads
Race 2: blow the balloon across the pool

We also did some egg and spoon races

Then we got to have a fun splash around

We are learning to talk about what we observe and to ask questions using the "I wonder.... "starter.

Here are some photos of some of the experiments we have done already.
