100's Party

Room 3 and 4 have been doing lots of learning about numbers this year. Each day we have been putting a stick in the jar until we got up to 100. We count the sticks, talk about the number that comes before and after the number of the day. We figure out if it is odd or even and we work out how many more days until we get to 100. To celebrate all of our learning, we had a party! Here are some pictures of the delicious food we had and some pictures of the activities about 100 that we did.

We made a chain of paper people and tried to get 100 in a row

 

 We made glasses out of the number 100

  We built towers with 100 blocks

 

We did challenges to see how many bounces, etc we could do in 100 seconds.

Matariki Day

At the end of Term 2 all of Kilbirnie School was involved in our Matariki Day. It was a wonderful day where all of the teachers and some parent volunteers took a variety of Matariki Activities from cooking, to art, to flax weaving. All of the children got to mix up into different groups and complete 3 different activities. We had a great day. Have a look at some of the activities we did!

Floorball Lessons

Today we were lucky enough to have each class get a floorball lesson with an expert coach who came into our school. Here are some of the photos of us learning.

Pirates in Room 3 & 4

This week in Room 3 and 4 we have been looking at pirates. We made pirate hats and parrots. We wrote stories about our pirate adventures.
Next week we are going to be making treasure chests full of gold, estimating how many pieces of gold we can fit in our chests and writing some more adventures! Arrghhhh!

Ngake Hub at the ASB

Ngake Hub children have been enjoying going to the ASB every Tuesday for the last few weeks. We alternate each week between doing gymnastics and futsal (indoor soccer).
