Rugby Skills in the Ngake Hub

What an exciting term we are having! In the Ngake Hub we have been lucky to have Murray and David from the Wellington Axemen come to our school and teach us some Rugby skills. First we started off with a warm up, and then we stretched to warm up our muscles. We practised running through cones and passing the ball to our team mate. Murray reminded us to keep our hands in a W shape and throw with an elephants trunk when we pass the ball.
We loved practising our rugby skills!

Plants in the Classroom

We have been enjoying learning about plants we can eat. We have learnt that we can eat different parts of different plants. We can eat the leaves of some plants, the stems, flowers, seeds or roots of others.

We have been planting seeds and watching them grow.

We planted peas, beans, basil, lettuce, sunflowers, squash, pumpkins and watermelons.

Every morning it is exciting to see how much more our plants have grown. Some of them sprouted much faster than others and they are all growing to different sizes at different speeds.

We have also been learning about edible weeds. We found out that some are really tasty and some are not so nice to taste. We all really liked the taste of kawakawa tea.
